privacy policy

who is responsible

This website is run by Jakub Kowalski, a motion designer based in Poland, who is the controller of personal data processed through this site under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can reach me at jakubkowalski0902@gmail.com. This policy covers this portfolio only, not other sites linked from it, such as Behance or Vimeo.

What data is collected

This site has no forms, accounts or newsletter. If you email me, I receive your email address, name and the content of your message. When you browse the site, the hosting provider Framer processes technical data such as your IP address, browser, device and pages visited, which Framer Analytics turns into aggregated statistics that do not identify you. When an embedded video loads, Vimeo receives your IP address and device information.

How we use your information

I use your email to reply to you and discuss potential projects, based on steps taken before a contract or my legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Technical and analytics data is used to deliver, secure and improve the site, based on my legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). I do not sell your data, use it for advertising or make automated decisions about you.

Sharing your information

Your data is processed by the services that run this site: Framer (hosting and analytics, Netherlands), Vimeo (video hosting, United States) and Google (email, Ireland and United States). Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, these providers rely on GDPR safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses. I may also share data with authorities if the law requires it.

Cookies

This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and Framer Analytics works without cookies. Embedded Vimeo videos may set cookies to remember playback settings or measure views, under Vimeo's own cookie policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some videos may then not play properly.

Data retention

Emails are kept for as long as our conversation or collaboration lasts and up to 2 years afterwards. If we work together, records needed for tax and accounting are kept for the period required by Polish law, generally 5 years from the end of the tax year. Technical, analytics and video data is kept by Framer and Vimeo according to their own policies. You can ask me to delete your emails earlier, unless I am legally required to keep them.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format and withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email jakubkowalski0902@gmail.com and I will reply within one month. You can also file a complaint with the Polish data protection authority, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw, uodo.gov.pl.

Changes to this privacy policy

I may update this policy when the site or the tools behind it change. If you have any questions about this policy, contact me at jakubkowalski0902@gmail.com.
